The Nintendo 64 emulator works very well and does not have the variety of display and sound quirks that some other alternatives out there do.
The interface is easy to navigate and handles a large library quite well, separating games into their respective consoles. OpenEmu includes access to a wide variety of Homebrew games that can be downloaded within the app. You can then press “Y” to bring up the context menu and select “Quit” to go back to the home screen and start playing your favorite retro games on your RG350 with the custom Rogue firmware.The Mac has long been a great platform for emulating older gaming consoles, and now the best emulator for OS X has gotten even better, as OpenEmu includes support for two other retro gaming greats the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 1. Once you’ve copied over all the files, you’re done. If you’re asked if you want to overwrite existing files, you can say “Yes to all” and let the files copy over. There will be quite a few files that will amount to several hundred megabytes of data, so each folder copy may take some time. Repeat this process for each of the folders under “extra” in the left column. Then press “X” top “copy” the files in the left column into the right column. Press the “Y” button to bring up a menu and press “A” to “Select all”. In that folder will be a number of files that end in “.opk”. Press the left arrow to go back to the left column and open the first folder. Then navigate to “media/data/apps” in the right column. Once there, press the “B”button until you’re in the root directory. That will move you into the right column. Once you’ve done that, press the right arrow on the Dpad. Then navigate to “media/sdcard/extras” in the left column.
Press the “B” button repeatedly until you’re in the root directory. Go to the home screen on the RG350 and find an application called “DinguxCmdr”. Once that has copied over, remove the microSD card from the reader and plug it back into the slot on the bottom of the RG350. Then copy the 4 folders that were extracted into a folder on your microSD card called “extras”. Plug the microSD card into the USB card reader and plug it into your computer.Įxtract the “localpack-v3.7z” file into its own folder. You will need to use your thumbnail or something to push it in a little and get it to release. Now remove the microSD card from the bottom of the RG350. Plug in the battery cable, reattach the back plate, and screw the 4 screws back into place to secure everything. Now insert the microSD card with the Rogue firmware on it into the empty microSD card slot. Set the newly removed microSD card aside and store it somewhere safe in case you need to go back to stock for some reason. Cut the sticker and remove the microSD card. This sticker isn’t required, but it’s there for warranty purposes. Once you’ve removed the back plate, locate the internal microSD card. Also, the shoulder buttons are just resting in the front half of the device and they fall out pretty easily. Be cautious when doing this as the battery is glued to the back plate and the battery cable is short. Remove the 4 screws from the back of the RG350 and then remove the back plate. Then use Win32 Disk Imager to write the Rogue firmware (sd_image.bin) to the microSD card. Use the SD Memory Card Formatter to format the microSD card a couple of times for good measure. Insert the microSD card into the reader and insert the card reader into your PC.
